Pastor Jamal Bryant took on Republican Senate candidate Herschel Walker about one week before Georgia's midterm elections, from his pulpit at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Stonecrest, Georgia.

In a fiery sermon, Bryant said the GOP thought they could hand-pick someone the party viewed as more politically favorable than incumbent Democratic senators Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff who would "represent us better with a football than with a degree in philosophy".

Pastor Jamal Bryant Scorches Herschel Walker In Fiery Sunday Sermon: 'We Don't Need A Walker'

The U.S. Justice Department is opening a sweeping civil rights investigation into the Louisiana State Police.

Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke made the announcement earlier this morning.

The investigation comes amid mounting evidence that the agency has looked the other way in the face of beatings of primarily Black men, including the deadly 2019 arrest of Ronald Greene. 

The announcement of a "pattern-or-practice" probe comes more than three years after white troopers were captured on long-withheld body-camera video beating, stunning, and dragging Greene on a rural roadside near Monroe.

No one has been charged in the case.
