Pdogg, off the record I told you that I had a feeling that they (RR) will go hard and they went hard last time as well. 

We are almost at the end of day 1. Shahrukh Khan. CSK went hard and sadly, they could not buy any Chennai player.

Punjab Kings, despite not retaining him, have bought him back for 9 crores.

Prasanna, before we dive deep into today's auction and what can we expect tomorrow... 

Again, Punjab Kings are going hard for him as well. 

Your thoughts on the day so far, Pdogg? Kind of an weird day, right?

To sum up the day, I can sing "Oora therinjukitten, Ulagam Purinjukitten Kanmani!" (I have realised the true colors of the people, dear)

Most of my predictions didn't go well. Of course, I was almost right with Shreyas Iyer's price tag. I predicted 11C but he went for 12.5C

I predicted 9C for Ishan Kishan, but he broke the bank and went for more than 15C.

I still cannot digest a few misses. Like CSK missing out Shardul Thakur, Ravichandran Ashwin. I knew they won't get Shahrukh Khan. 

But these two (Shardul and Ash), I don't know. Especially, given that they couldn't get Faf du Plessis as well. RCB made sure my prediction was wrong with that well by taking him to 7C whereas I predicted around 4C.

So, I can say that this has been an unpredictable auction. 

Apart from Devdutt Padikkal selection, I can say that Royals have done really well. 

Chennai and Mumbai: I don't know how they are gonna recover from here. Maybe, you can ask that to Nanee Sir.

What say, Nanee Sir? Looks like Pdogg is so given up already. But I don't know what's bothering him here. Mumbai has also done really well, right?

Both MI and CSK have massive strength from their retention. 

They have bought back most of them, right?

Mumbai Indians are known for their slow starts. They lose most of their first 5 games and then only begin their comeback. 

So, in auctions too, they will do well in the second half. 

You brought out a point about Padikkal. Of course, they are looking strong with both Ashwin and Chahal bowling in tandem. 

That combination will be lethal, agreed. 

Even I felt that Padikkal was bought for a high price compared to what he is about to offer to the side. 

But there is some history behind Padikkal's buy. It seems that his dad saw him holding a bat when he was a kid and asked him to become a cricketer seeing his stance. 

But despite that Padikkal padichaaru (he studied)

His dad clarified him, "It's okay nee Padikala naalum" (It's okay even if you don't read)

So, the moral of the story is, even if you don't read, you can earn in crores. 

The thing is, they already had a Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal who were retained and will open. 

And Sanju Samson invariably wanted to bat at number 3. 

So, there is a massive chance of playing Padikkal at number 4 and despite paying him those huge bucks, they might end up dropping him after a few failures. 

Let me just get you all started by giving a news. 

There has been a change since last auction. 

They will open the trading window right after the auction gets over, say, in 10 days. 

Yes. So, yeah a trading window will be opened.

So, once the auction is over, there is a possibility of these trades happening seeing a team's balance and demands.

Because few teams haven't sorted their openers yet. Nanee Sir?

So, when they bought Padikkal, I guess Jaiswal might have thought "Wait, they aren't confident of me or what?" and you should not shatter a youngster's confidence. 

And Ashwin, you are a clear example of that. 

So, this kind of buy gives a wrong message to the youngsters. 

And also, I won't agree with Hetmyer buy as well. 

He has batted from opening till number 7. 

He registered himself as a keeper as well. 

He can register himself as a golfer as well. He is exceptional at golf too.  

Last year, his bat swing reminded that of golf swing. 

So, I don't think anything is an end case. Anyone can play well at any number.

I have a strong feeling.. I could be wrong as well. But trading window will play a massive role this time around.

As we are speaking, Shivam Mavi is being sold for a whopping 6.75 crores. 

Our auctioneer fell down while auctioning today and it looked really scary. 

In fact, he has recovered and expected to join us tomorrow, which is a great news. 

Nanee Sir, it looked really scary when it happened, right?

I was shocked even before it happened. I mean, Hasaranga was being auctioned at that time and his price was...

I thought he will go for more than 11 or 12 crores. But I guess he slipped and fell down right?

I don't know what happened but I guess he is fine.

Pdogg, what are your thoughts on the day? Which team did well? As we are speaking, KKR has got him. 

KKR came today with just a single goal, I guess. Have you seen the movie 'Anna Nagar Mudhal Theru?' (Anna Nagar, first street)

Sathyaraj will have only one goal in that movie. That he should come to Chennai and settle here. 

He will gain Janakaraj's friendship, will get employed as a watchman and will fall in love with Radha. 

Likewise, KKR also came here with a single role. To rebuild the same side that they had last year. 

They have bought back almost all of them and they have bought Shreyas Iyer as well. 

Bharat Arun was sitting calm knowing very well that Shreyas Iyer was going to be their captain. 

When they announced their retentions, I had mixed feelings. I didn't think they would retain Russell. 

Because he is not fir for most of the games. 

So, I thought he could have bought back at the auction itself for a smaller amount given his fitness, but that didn't happen. 

But after that, all their picks today has been fantastic. 

You will rank the franchises usually, right? So, they will be right at the top, I feel. 

Your thoughts, Pdogg? Will KKR take the number 1 rank?

Currently, Rahul Tewatia bid is happening. 

Venky Iyer and Rana to open, Shreyas Iyer at 3, Dre Russ at 5. Narine may be used as a floater. 

Cummins can also bat and he is at number 9. 

Varun Chakravarthy at 11, and I don't know whether they will use Kuldeep Yadav, who was bought for a cheaper price. 

Kuldeep Yadav was bought by DC, Prasanna. 

They have almost sealed 9 out of their playing XI with a solid core. 

So, when you go into a 2-day auction, you should first try to build a solid core. 

Like Nanee Sir said, they have done that really well. 

I don't know who will they buy for their number 4 role. 

If they get a destructive batsman for that role, I will prefer someone like a Rassie van der Dussen. 

If they get a 2 in 1 player like him, their squad will be more balanced and  I will also agree with Nanee Sir saying they have done a great job. 

I will make a small change, Prasanna. I will open with Venky Iyer and Rassie, will play Nitish Rana at 3 and play my captain Shreyas Iyer at 4. Having an explosive foreigner at the top seems to be the norm. Your thoughts, Ashwin?
